Patricia Capello: DMT with Psychiatric Patients
I
Unit: Psychiatric Patients
Theme: Patricia Capello
Introduction
Patricia P. Capello was a Senior Dance/Movement Therapist and Acting Team Leader for the Therapeutic Activities Service at Maimonides. Ms. Capello currently is Associate Chair of the ADTA's International Panel and trains and supervises students in DMT with a specialty in Psychiatry. Her methodology is uniquely hers. She uses pop songs to stimulate her clients movement expression. She combines dance with lyrics that have meaning and connect those who are familiar with the songs. Hers sessions end with meaning making which she conveys by verbally asking every client in her group what the lyrics meant to them personally.
